Overview

Parinacota is a conical stratovolcano with a well-defined crater located within Sajama National Park in the Western Cordillera. During the ascent, you can encounter typical volcanic features and geomorphologies such as lava flows, domes, and more. Beyond the stunning views, this protected area is also home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna.

D E T A I L S

DAY 1.
LA PAZ – SAJAMA
From La Paz, we head to Sajama National Park, approximately a 5-hour drive in our vehicle. Along the way, we’ll enjoy the beautiful Altiplano landscape and some archaeological sites. In the afternoon, we’ll arrive at the Sajama lodge.

DAY 2.
SAJAMA – PARINACOTA SUMMIT – SAJAMA
An early start awaits us. We’ll drive directly to the high camp (5,100 m.a.s.l.), where we’ll begin our ascent via the moraine until we reach the glacier and finally the summit of Parinacota (6,348 m.a.s.l.).
The descent follows the same route back to the vehicle, which will take us to the village of Sajama.

DAY 3.
SAJAMA – RETURN TO LA PAZ
Before heading back to La Paz, we’ll enjoy a relaxing dip in the hot springs.
