Acotango
The easiest 6,000m. summit
Overview
Acotango (6,052 m.a.s.l.) is a volcano located on the border of Chile and Bolivia in the Cordillera Occidental and forms together with the Humarata and Capurata volcanoes the Quimsachatas massif in Aymara “three twins”.
Its ascent is easy but relatively long, its environment is desert where the smell of sulfur is felt and very easy in the ascent you can see yellowish crystals of this mineral. In the part of Chile you can see pyramids of mountains that are volcanic.

D E T A I L S
Day 1.
LA PAZ – SAJAMA.
Departure from La Paz by private vehicle across the high plateau to reach the Sajama National Park will take us 6 to 7 hours, in the afternoon a short hike.
Day 2.
SAJAMA – ACOTANGO – SAJAMA.
In the early morning we go to Chachacomani, a small village near the base of Acotango, immediately we take the road built by the miners in the “Quebrada del Condor Jipiña” and we will be arriving with the vehicle at an altitude of (5180 m.a.s.l.), and begin the ascent to the summit of Acotango in about 6 to 7 hours. Return to the town of Sajama after the ascent.
Day 3.
SAJAMA – RETURN TO LA PAZ.
Before returning to La Paz, we visit the geysers and take a dip in the hot springs.
